Introduction to Spiritual Warfare

Written by: Dorcas C. Chandler

During the course of our Christian walk with Jesus Christ we have heard the words "Spiritual Warfare" used in different types of settings.

Some of us have viewed the concept of “Spiritual Warfare” as strange. Some on the other hand seem to believe that the only ones who are chosen for this assignment are the super Christian, or, those Christians who spend hours in prayer. Wrong, this assignment is for all believers.

I want to introduce you to the reality of what is taking place in the Kingdom today and help you understand that we are all in spiritual conflict.  The enemy is after the souls of mankind.  He hates us.  His main goal is to destroy us and to take us with him to the lake of fire.   If we don’t know how to stand in this last hour we will be consumed by the powers of darkness and will live a powerless and defeated life.

Jesus came that we might “have life and have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b) Please don’t confuse this scripture with material things.  We have all been confronted with the "things syndrome gospel".  The more you have the blessed you are.  Things don’t denote that we are blessed by God; things only mean that we have more things!  You are blessed when you keep God’s commandments and statutes.

God has blessed America and the World in general to have and live a good life.  We are blessed compared to what our forefathers endured.  They did not have much, but they had faith.  Their faith in God was about more than material possessions.  They had to believe God for who He was, and who He is; and had spiritual wealth beyond this World. They knew Him as a healer, a doctor, a way maker, etc.  I know that we know Him as all of these things or have heard of someone who does.
